Welcome to the Grand Rapids Area Schools Transportation Department
News from the Transportation Department…
We hope you're enjoying your summer! Please review the important transportation updates below as we prepare for the upcoming school year.
Bus Route Information
Student busing information for the 2025–2026 school year will be available 10 days prior to the start of school through the My Ride K–12 app.
Bus routes from the end of the 2024–2025 school year will automatically carry over into the new school year. If your student had transportation in place at the end of last school year, you do not need to request busing unless there have been changes.
If there have been any updates—such as a new address, phone number, or legal guardianship—please submit a new busing request as soon as possible to ensure accurate service.
Communication
The My Ride K–12 app will be our primary form of communication regarding transportation. Routing information will not be sent by mail, email, or phone. We encourage families to regularly check the app, as route information is subject to change.
If you need help accessing or using the My Ride K–12 app, please contact the Transportation Department at (218) 327-5830, and we’ll be happy to assist you. Please have your student ID number prior to calling. That information is available on the Parent Portal in Campus. If you're unable to access Parent Portal, please reach out to your school's office.
New: Student Ridership Cards (Optional)
This year, we are offering a new, optional tool through our transportation service. Students may choose to use a Student Ridership card to scan on and off the bus. When used, the My Ride K–12 app will show the exact time, location, and bus number associated with each scan, providing real-time updates for families.
Participation is completely voluntary. The first card is free. If the card is lost, stolen, or damaged, a replacement fee will apply. To request a Student Ridership card contact the Transportation Department at (218) 327-5830.
We look forward to a safe and successful school year! Thank you for partnering with us to support your student’s transportation needs.
Sincerely,
Grand Rapids Area Schools Transportation Department+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Our primary goal is the safe transportation of students to and from school.
Grand Rapids Area Schools transportation is available to district students and includes transportation for:
- Grand Rapids Tech Hub - ISD 318 Educational Services Center
- RJEMS afterschool activities
- GRHS/Reif afterschool activities
- YMCA Educare Program (before and after school)
- Public Library Afterschool
- St Joseph's School Age Care (SAC) Afterschool Program
The Transportation Department is committed to student safety. It is also important that parents assume a scope of responsibility at the bus stop, including getting children to and from bus stops.
All students may have just ONE pick-up and ONE drop-off location. This has changed from having multiple options in the past. Busing requests must be completed online using the district website.
Please have your busing request filled out prior to July 18th, 2025 in order to ensure your request is processed for Fall transportation. Requests received after this date will be processed, but busing cannot be guaranteed to be ready for the start of school. The Transportation department intends to have busing routes and time information available on the My Ride K-12 app 10 days prior to the start of school.
